AT A GLANCE

 

The Maryland Proton Treatment Center is the second proton therapy center developed by Advanced Particle Therapy (APT) in partnership with Signet Development.  This state-of-the-art facility will feature five treatment rooms (four rotational gantries and one fixed-beam room) and retail space.

 

The project's clinical partner, the University of Maryland, provides all clinical operations for the facility as an extension of its current radiation oncology services.  Varian Medical Systems is supplying all proton therapy equipment featuring its ProBeam system that includes the latest in pencil beam scanning technology.  Located within the University of Maryland BioPark in Baltimore, this center is situation amongst some of the most cutting-edge biotechnology and research companies in the country.

 

As part of the project development, Signet provides a full spectrum of development services including land acquisition, entitlements, project and construction management as well as financial structuring services.  The Maryland Proton Treatment Center commenced construction in May 2012 and is scheduled to begin patient treatment by the first quarter of 2015.
